Our partner, Wayu Suthisarnsuntorn, was invited along with other global speakers to speak at the Regional HR Employment Law Week held from 3 to 7 February 2020 in Singapore. The five-day conference was aimed to address updates on the employment laws for Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar.

Wayu spoke about the employment law landscape in Thailand over 2 sessions on 6 February 2020, in particular the latest amendments to Thailand’s Labor Protection Act concerning employees’ protection and statutory severance pay, which came into force on 6 May 2019. He also shared insights on how the amendments on employees’ protection affect employers from procedural to financial perspective and discussed when severance pay is triggered and exempted and the disputability of sanction arising from employers’ non-compliance.
